Firefox 33.1.1 installation on Linux RHEL/CentOS 7&6

                                                                          

Mozilla Firefox 33.1.1 version is released on 14 November  2014. This guide how to install Firefox 33.1.1 in RHEL/CentOS 7&6

  • Support for connecting to HTTP proxy over HTTPS.

Steps to Install Mozilla Firefox 33.1.1 Version On RHEL/CentOS

Step1: Download Firefox 33.1.1 tar file

  Download firefox Archive file using wget command as shown below.

32-Bit Operation System

  # cd /usr/local/
  # wget http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/33.1.1/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-33.1.1.tar.bz2

64-Bit Operating System
 

  # cd /usr/local/
  # wget http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/33.1.1/linux-x86_64/en-US/firefox-33.1.1.tar.bz2

Step2: Extract the Tar Archive file

 After download is completed, extract the Archive file using tar command

  # tar -xvjf firefox-33.1.1.tar.bz2

Step 3: Check and Configure the Firefox

Now Check the already installed firefox version

  # firefox -v

    Mozilla Firefox 24.0

Configure new version 33.1.1, we don't need to make any installation, we just create a softlink of firefox binary file.

  # ln -s /usr/local/firefox/firefox  /usr/bin/firefox

Step 4: Launch Firefox 33.1.1

 Check the newly installed firefox version

   # firefox -v
  
     Mozilla Firefox 33.1.1
     
Now start the firefox 33.1.1 using command line or from taskbar

  # firefox &
